Gareth’s Pink Elephant Challenge

YES is committed to being an ethical company in all areas of the business, from our range of certified organic intimacy products through to our dedication to adhering to our core moral values – people, plants, products and the planet are all carefully considered and respected in everything that we do. We take our corporate social responsibility seriously and are proud that this has also been extended outside the workplace by many YES employees.

This week we are supporting Gareth, our Key Account Manager, who has set himself a mammoth challenge for an amazing cause! Throughout 2018, Gareth will be taking part in not just one but four races ranging from a total of 36km to 52km, to raise money for UK medical research charity Reverse Rett in memory of his sister Angharad.

‘Rett syndrome is a neurological condition which most often strikes previously healthy girls between their first and second birthday, leaving them with multiple disabilities and medical complexities. Most are unable to speak, walk or use their hands. Reverse Rett aims to speed up treatments and find a cure for Rett Syndrome. It has already been reversed in the lab, so the charity is working hard to drive these promising lab developments into tangible treatments and a cure for those living with Rett Syndrome.’ [1]

Gareth started his Pink Elephant Challenge back in February, after successfully completing a Muscle Acre Obstacle Race (3 laps) which consisted of 36km. His next challenges are as follows:

  • 5th May – Isle of Wight Challenge – 52km
  • 7th July – Serpent Trail (near Petersfield) – 50km
  • Oct/Nov – 24km obstacle race with a weighted Bergen – TBC (likely 40+ miles)

Tomorrow, Gareth aims to complete his Isle of Wight challenge in just 6 – 8 hours. To walk the route without stopping would take approximately 10 hours. This is an incredible challenge and we’re all really proud to support Gareth and Reverse Rett.
