Green Friday 2019

Black Friday is so last year – 2019 is all about Green Friday

Do we really need more ‘unmissable’ deals on stuff we don’t really need, gifts that loved ones don’t really want? That admittedly exciting, never-ending flurry of deliveries, all with its own ocean-choking phalanx of packaging. Really? Do we? We’re not the only ones on this particular path. The UKs largest Organic Certifier has been running a ‘One Small change’ campaign to encourage buyers to look at what they’re buying, be mindful and maybe consider choosing alternatives that reduce plastic wastage and carbon footprint.

What is Green Friday?

Green Friday is all about asking people to think consciously about their spending – understanding how purchases can affect people, the planet, plants and wildlife.  With Black Friday causing a mass overproduction of products, the environmental impact is immense. This year, over 300 brands have asked shoppers to consider their spending – ensuring the environment is a factor in their decision-making [1].
